TO 12, HARRIS COMES TO NEW LEXINGTON Will Attend Perry County Fair Aug 20-Death From Whooping Cough New Lexington, 0., Aug. 1. -(Speclal)-Governor Andrew L. Harris has accepted an invitation to. visit New Lexington and attend the Perry county fair on Thursday, Aug.

20. The governor will be accompanied by a number of prominent men of the state and will deliver an address at the fair grounds. Hon. Judson Harmon, the Democratic candidate for governor, will be here on Friday, Aug. 21, and he also will make an address.

With these two leading men of the state as their guests and a large number of other big attractions the officers of the Perry County Agricultural society will offer the best meeting this year in the history of the organization. WILLIE HOLDEN DEAD Willie, the six-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Holden, died at an early hour Friday morning after a severe struggle with typhoid and whoopingcough. The youngster has been serlously Ill for the past week and many times his life was despaired of.

Besides the father and mother, a brother and two sisters survive. The funeral service will be held from St. Rose church Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Willle Holden was an exceptionally bright lad and was much beloved by all. The grief-stricken family have the sympathy of the community in their sad hour.

THE EAGLES WILL DANCE New Lexington aerie, No. 1751, Fraternal Order of Eagles, will extend invitations Saturday for 8 grand Teception and ball to be given at the armory Friday evening, Aug. 15. Elaborate preparations are being made for the event, and it promises to be a good time. The Clark-Dillow fivepiece orchestra will furnish the music and the dancing will continue from 8 to 2.

This will be the first of a series of dances. SURVIVING SOLDIERS The assessors' returns of the past year show that there is still living in Perry county one survivor of the Mexscan war in the person of Joel Spohn of Somerset. The surviving warriors of the rebellion are 364, of Span1sh-American war 58, and Philippine insurrection 26. This gives a total of 449 surviving soldiers in the county. ASSEMBLY PROGRAM The Assembly club has arranged a good program for its ball next Tues.

NEIGHBORHOOD NOTES WOODSFIELD- The board of education in Woodsfleld has let contracts for Are escapes on the school building here. Chris Schwall has the contract for the brick work and Carl Rousenberger for fire escapes. The work will be pushed as rapidly as possible. WEST LAFAYETTE-The year 1905 will show an investment to West Lafayette of $25,000 and $30,000 In buildings. Of this nearly $20,000 goes Into new homes, some of them fine ones.

The county commissioners and county surveyor Wednesday afternoon selected the firm of Waddell Herrington of Kansas City as consulting engineers for the great work. They will have full charge of the construction of the Main and Twelfth street bridges.

Girdivainis is locked up and his case will be at once investigated. Lee Donavan was arrested yesterday evening, together with Ott Singer. The men are charged, in a warrant sworn out by Joseph Eberts, with the theft of 20 pounds of babbit metal, valued at $6, from the plant of the Carnegie Steel Co.

Alva Colins, employed at the new Ellis dam, was arrested charged with stealing an electric fan from the domicile of Daisy Lear. Three plain drunks were also brought in last evening. Pearl Atkinson, No. 714 Elm street, Was not the young man fined in police court Thursday morning for assault on Chester Flowers. It was another youth of the same name.

Jennie Kohler was arraigned before Judge Foley on a charge of drunkenness and disorderly conduct. She was given a plaster of $5 and costs. About 10 days ago she answered a similar charge, receiving the same fine. The fine was suspended provided she W26 good during four weeks. Since she tailed to keep this compact the second plaster is added to the Arst.

She will now have to work out or pay $10 and the costs in both cases. Judge Foley rendered his long deferred decision in the case of Humane Officer Victor Kleinhoffer. The latter was tried on the charge of assault and battery, preferred by Homer Harris. and the matter was taken under advisement. The court pronounced Kleinhoffer not guilty.

Kleinhoffer now has two charges pending against Harris. One is In police court. that of resist. Ing an officer: the other is In 'Squire Green's court, charging him with cruelty to animals. BARNESVILLE- The local option election to determine if Belmont coupty will be dry or wet will be held in October, and prior to the national and state election in November.

This nouncement was made yesterday by one of the leading temperance workers in the county. He said that some were in favor of holding the election after the regular fall election, but the mafority of those In charge were in favor of the election being neld as early as possible. SUMMERFIELD-Workmen are repairing the M. E. church. New paper, new varnish, a general cleaning, new chimneys are included in the repair list. WEST LAFAYETTE-Wheat around here is probably averaging about 12 bushels per acre.

Oats mostly under 20 bushels. WOODSFIELD-The county commissioners have emproyed Jesse Keyser as janitor at a salary of $80 per month, he to employ a licensed engineer to look after the heating apparatus. BELLAIRE-The council has passed an ordinance for the working of city prisoners on the streets in default of payment of fines. Prisoners refusing to work are to be placed on bread and water diet. O. Griest, auditor of coal and ore receipts of the Pennsylvania company, Pittsburg, was here Thursday, where he buried his daughter's remains. Mr. Greist was companied by a number of relatives and friends who attended the funeral. LEWISVILLE-Justus Claus of route 1, reports that while plowUng corn on his farm the other day he plowed up 20 blacksnake eggs.

SWAZEY-Buried on the George Reed farm near here are the remains of Frederick Crow, one of the pioneers a of this country. The Crow family has figured prominently in the history of this and adjoining countles. Frederick Crow had three sisters and a brother killed by Indians, and Martin Crow, brother, is supposed to have killed the last Indian in this vicinity--about two miles southeast of Summerfield, WHEELING Called to the Eastern Ohio field to aid the district officials in bringing about peace where recent squabbles have occurred among the miners themselves and with the operators, Vice President D. Sullivan of Coshocton, accompanied Secretary McBryde of the operators to Wheeling, and is registered at the Stamm house.
