The YWCA helped the counselors! organize the camp and they usually follow a planned schedule.

"We organize but sometimes we do what' the kids want to do," Baxter said, Weather has not presented many problems. Rain only bothered the group once and that was at the end of the afternoon, Alexander said. They all sat under the picnic shelter and sang songs until it was time to go home, she explained. Although the counselors had several minor problems during the Starlight sessions, the biggest ailments are bee stings and cuts from scissors. Philo junior Joanie Wood explained the children like to cut everything, including their fingers.

"I enjoy working with the kids. I've wanted to do this all my life," said Kathy Robinson, a Zanesville junior. She has learned as much as the children have during the day camp, she said. Maysville junior Joanna Lloyd admitted she was reluctant to work at the camp at first. But now she said she is enjoying the job.

The 4- to 5-year-olds are the mosf challenging because of their short attention span, she said. Wood said she thought the sessions with the Starllte pupils were most difficult. "The first couple of weeks it was hard because the kids just tired us out," she commented. But "we have a lot of fun," added Beth Wreede, a Maysville junior. t-T-f v.

Block 925 Leonard Phillip Leslie France, 2415 Adamsvilie Road, Bruce George Gillard, 1644 Norwood Richard By TERESA MELCHER Teen Page Editor Three weeks of taking care of little children has not daunted nine counselors for the YWCA's Camp Rainbow. Many still are considering child care as a career. The counselors are paid through the Job Training Partnership Act's summer youth program. The daily camp will run for three more weeks and has included Starlight adults and youth and headstart children. Other sessions are planned for asthmatic children and school-age youngsters.

For some of the counselors, it's the first job they have had. "It doesn't really seem like a job," said Margaret Berka, a Zanesville High School junior. "It's just like babysitting." But unlike some babysitters who are glued to a television, these girls really played with the children and in many cases became their friends. Swimming in Armco Park's pool was a favorite. But the old favorites like singing songs and play circle games were old standbys.

"Three Bears" was the most popular song while Duck Duck Goose was the top game. The summer has not been all work. Lynn Alexander, a Philo High School senior, said she "enjoyed it a lot" and it didn't really seem like work. "Not many of us knew what to expect. You learn something new everyday," said Carmen Baxter, a senior in Lowe Tops Ask teen girls who they consider to be today's "most sizzling stars," and the response overwhelmingly favors the hottest male movie stars and rock musicians, according to Seventeen magazine.

In a recent survey of 2,000 Seventeen readers, only two women, rock singer Madonna and Cyndi Lauper, placed within the top' 20 on the list of favorite superstars. Madonna voted fourth place, with 27 percent of the votes and Cyndi Lauper received tenth plac with 20 percent of the votes. Leading the list of teen girls' favorites are two of Hollywood's current heartthrobs. Rob Lowe, star of the upcoming St. Elmo's Fire, came in first, with 48 percent of the readers making him one of their choices.

Tom Cruise, best-known for his role in Risky Business, was mentioned by 32 percent of the teen girls and placed second. Third place on the list of superstars went to Prince, the reigning king of rock, who was named by 28 percent of those surveyed. Simon Le Bon and John Taylor, both of the rock group Duran Duran, placed fifth and sixth respectively; 26 percent of the girls placed Le Bon on their list, and 25 percent mentioned Taylor.
