Born Sept. 21, 1935, in Marion, she was a member of the Salvation Army, where she served as manager of the Homeless Shelter House for over 13 years. 1W7 Lewis E. Carr, 85 ZANESVILLE Lewis E. Carr, 85, of Mutton Ridge Road, Zanesville, died at 2:45 p.m.

Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at his residence. Born Jan. 16, 1914, in Medina County, he retired after 27 years from Shawnee Pottery; following that he worked at United Technology. He was a veteran of the U.S.

Army, serving during World War II. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Phyllis Runyon of Zanesville, one brother, Clifford Carr of five grandchildren, Diana Tetak, Jane Barr, Ruth Fliger, Robert Runyon Jr. and Thomas Runyon; 12 greatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive E. Carr, who died Oct.

25, 1998; his parents, Albert and Gertrude Johnson Carr; four brothers, Howard, Herman, Charles and Floyd Carr; and three sisters, Mabel Whistlegreen, Hattie Copeland and Letha Bell. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at DeLong-Baker Lanning Funeral Home, 56 S. Fifth St. Services will be 2:30 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles E. Titko officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.

Paul Nichols, 73 McCONNELSVILLE Paul Nichols, 73, of 1020 Ohio 78 West, Malta, died at 7:12 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at his home near Ringgold. Born Sept. 29, 1925, in Trimble, he was involved in the automobile business most of his life.

He owned Nichols Auto Sales in Ringgold, also with Bill Janes Chevrolet in Mc-Connelsville. He was actively engaged in farming until his death. He was a decorated Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European theater. He enjoyed his hobby of playing guitar with friends and actively volunteered his time for many years to entertain resi-; dents of area nursing homes. Surviving are his wife, Velma P.

Parsons Nichols, whom he married Sept. 12, 1944; two daughters, Kathy (Larry) McLaughlin of Mc-Connelsville, Kristy Nichols of the home; three sons, Curtis B. (Patrilla) Nichols of Marietta, Paul "Kent" (Belinda) Nichols of Roseville, Craig (Carla) Nichols of Marietta; eight grandchildren, Scott McLaughlin, Melinda Taylor, Jason Nichols, Julie Nichols, Beth Downard, Brad Nichols, Bryan Nichols, Ben Holschuh; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vashti Stephenson of Massillon and Barbara Chap-pelear of Malta; and two brothers, Elvin and Charles Nichols, both of Malta. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys B. Armstrong; his father, John L.

Nichols; three sisters, Dorotha Pedicord, Nelva Kasler and Ruth Carter; and one brother, Jack Nichols. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at Miller-Huck Funeral Home, McConnelsville. Services will be 1:30 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple-wood Cemetery in Bishopville with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Emergency Squad, 77 S. Fourth McConnelsville, OH 43756.

Richard E.Eberts, 72 SHAWNEE Richard E. Eberts, 72, of New Straitsville, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at the home of his son, Richard, at The Plains. Mr. Eberts was a longtime educator in Perry County.

He retired after 39 years as a teacher in New Straitsville and as a principal at Shawnee and New Lexington Elementary School. He was born Feb. 2, 1927, in New Straitsville to the late Grayton and Thelma (Harris) Eberts. Mr. Eberts was a graduate of Ohio University and was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and spent 24 years as a lake patrolman at Buckeye Lake State Park.

He was a 50-year member of New Straitsville Lodge No. 484 where he served as lodge secretary for 48 years. He also was a member of the Logan VFW Post, of Jan's Fans of Athens and the Perry County Retired Teachers Association. Mr. Eberts is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Betty Eberts of The Plains; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Tim McClellan of Columbus; aunt Elsie Dixon of Columbus; aunt and uncle, Mildred and Gene Jewett of New Straitsville; uncle, James Harris of New Lexington; uncle, Pearl Jewett of Shawnee; two grandchildren, Kristin and Steven Eberts of The Plains; a special friend, Yvonne Struble of Logan.

Thursday, Sept, 16, 1999, at the J.E. Humphrey Funeral W. Walnut Shawnee, where Masonic services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.

Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the New Straitsville Cemetery with military rites. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Appalachia, 280 E. State St. Athens, Ohio 45701.

Tilhe J. Morrison, 61 Tillie J. Morrison, 61, of 3280 Babbs Road, Nashport, died at 6:20 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Genesis Bethesda Hospital after a short illness.

Born June 17, 1938, in Zanesville, she had been employed at United Technology for 17 years. Surviving are her husband, Dale R. Morrison of the home; one son, Jeffrey (Shari) R. Tucker of Zanesville; three daughters, Cheryl (Gene) Hayes of Newark, Donna (Dave) Stansberry and Barbara Briggs of Nashport; one stepson, James E. (Karen) Tucker of Zanesville; two stepdaughters, Karin (Mark) Ioia of Mesa, Ariz, and Lori (Budd) Os-burn of Phoenix, two sisters, Sandy (Donald) Watkins of Brownsville and Rita Lehman of Nashport; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter G. and Mildred Keineth Reed; one daughter, Jacqueline Tucker; and one brother, Robert Reed. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at DeLong-Baker Lanning Funeral Home, 56 S. Fifth St.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 1999, at the funeral home with the Rev. Roy Keyser officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Georgia Hanson, 85 WOODSFIELD Georgia L. Hanson, 85, of 202 West Marietta Woodsfield, died at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at the Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Woodsfield. Born March 11, 1914, in Stafford, she was a former employee of Riesbeck's Market in Woodsfield.

She was a member of Stafford United Methodist Church at Stafford and attended the Woodsfield United Methodist Church and St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Woodsfield. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star 268 in Woodsfield. Surviving are her husband, Franklin Hanson, whom she married May 21, 1939; and one brother, Edgar E.McVay of Stafford. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank E.

and Edith Robinson McVay; and an infant sister, Mary Maxine Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16,, 1999, at Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield with Eastern Star services at 7:30 p.m. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Sept.

17, 1999, at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Fitzgerald and the Rev. Lynda Masters officiating. Burial will be in Stafford Cemetery. She was the Salvation Army 1990 Volunteer of the Year, a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Home League.

Mrs. Spencer was a Torch Bearer to carry the Olympic Flame on Trek to Atlanta 1996 Summer Games. Surviving are one daughter, Lt. Virginia A. Spencer of Stamford, one son and daughter-in-law, Stevan and Dora Hill of Timmonsville, S.C.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Virgil Blair of Marion and Lois and Robert Kisor of Zanesville; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Naomi Carr of Marion, Daniel and Louise Carr of Marion, Richard and Kate Carr of Ladson, S.C., Floyd and Bonnie Carr of Zanesville and Roger and Nancy Carr of Chesapeake; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Reed of Timmonsville, S.C., Maryann Hill and Stevan Hill both of Kingsville, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Robert Reed and Briana Reed, both of Princeton, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Margaret Schaber Carr; her husband, Robert L. Spencer, who died July 9, 1993; one sister, Thelma Hogan; and one brother, Robert Carr. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave.

14, 1999. Born Aug. 2, 1920, in Perry County, he was a member of Junction City United Methodist Church and lifetime member of Junction City American Legion Post 376, where he served as past commander. He was a member of United Mine Workers Local 604, District 6 and a retired employee of Sidwell Brothers. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Corene Matheny Mohler; one son, Michael E.

(Gaynel) Mohler Sr. of Junction City, one grandson, Michael E. Mohler six sisters, Florence Davidson and Betty Ad-cock of Junction City, Jane Mc-Connell and Geraldine Flowers of Lancaster, Margaret Mc-Connell of Bremen and Patricia Lehman of Newark; three brothers, Carl Mohler of New Lexington, Donald "Dick" Mohler and Gerald "Pete" Mohler of Junction City. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Mary Nutter Mohler; one infant daughter, Bonnie Jean; and one brother, Paul E. Mohler.

Calling hours will be 2 to 8 p.m. today at Chute-Wiley Funeral Home, 115 S. Jackson New Lexington. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept.

Sheppard, 90 NEWARK Helen E. Shep-pard, -90, of Newark, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Heath Nursing and Convalescent Center. Born Nov. 16, 1908, in Licking Township, she was a lifetime resident of the Newark area, was a homemaker and a member of Fairview Methodist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Robert C. Sheppard and David A. Sheppard of Newark; one daughter, Diane M. Metz of Newark; three grandchildren, the Rev. Robert W.

Manchester of Waldorf, Beth A. Johnston and Rae Scott Sheppard of Newark; eight great-grandchildren, Amy A. Petty, Rae Scott Sheppard Megan N. Bordenkircher, Sklar N. Sheppard and Malloreigh A.

Sheppard, all of Newark, Jonathon A. Manchester, Marcus Manchester and Sara Manchester, all of Waldorf; two sisters, Nora Bayles of Newark and Dorothy Wolford of Frazeysburg; and one brother, Paul Sheppard of Zanesville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Minnie M.
